4 Effective Ways to Straighten Teeth
There are several ways to straighten teeth, and having straight teeth can be extremely beneficial to one’s oral health, along with the massive cosmetic benefit one gets from going through a procedure to straighten teeth.
Unfortunately, all too many believe that straightening teeth is too expensive, and there are not enough viable options to choose from to straighten teeth.
Effective Ways to Straighten Teeth
The following are the most effective ways to straighten teeth.
Traditional Braces
Traditional braces - also referred to as metal braces - are still the most common way to straighten teeth, especially for children and teenagers. However, adults can also benefit from traditional braces as well.
The most significant advantage of traditional braces is that they are easy for dentists to place as they go on the front of the teeth. Also, traditional braces are very versatile, and they can work to straighten even the most crooked of teeth.
The downside to traditional braces, however, is that they are not all that aesthetically pleasing. The metal wire and braces are highly noticeable and can draw a lot of attention from others, in some cases causing insecurity in the one who is wearing them.
Ceramic braces
Ceramic braces are the closest alternative to traditional braces, and they are nearly just as effective. Ceramic braces are one of the most popular forms of braces in adults with teeth that cannot be straightened with aligners.
The best part about ceramic braces is that others are not able to notice them unless they are right next to the one wearing them as they are almost an identical color to healthy teeth, which makes them perfect for adults who do not want to wear braces that are highly obvious.
The only drawback to ceramic braces is that they are typically more expensive than traditional braces.
Lingual braces
Lingual braces - otherwise referred to as inside braces - are an excellent option for adults who do not want to have a noticeable set of braces on their teeth. Lingual braces go on the backside of the teeth, which makes them very difficult for others to notice.
While lingual braces can certainly help straighten teeth while at the same time not making it obvious that the person has braces, they can be much more difficult for the dentist to put on(many dentists do not offer them for this reason), and they may cause problems with the tongue.
Clear aligners
Clear aligners are a very effective way to straighten teeth that are not very crooked, to begin with, which means they are not right for many who need extensive straightening.
However, clear aligners - which are removable trays - are very hard for others to detect and can even be removed when necessary, allowing adults to straighten their teeth without anyone ever noticing.
